Topsoil Restaurant

This restaurant had been on my list for quite some time, and it fully lived up to the hype. The service and food were outstanding, and the wine pairings were expertly selected. The menu was centered around fresh and locally sourced produce and was not only creative but seasonal. The three course pairing menu offered many different selections from vegetables to different meats.

Just moved to the Greenville area and so glad it didn’t take long to find our new fav brunch spot! Great flavor, fresh ingredients and amazing service! My only negative was the cinnamon roll. It sounded great but was actually served cold and ended up being dry. The southwest bowl and ricotta toast were so good though! And the bacon!! Oh my! Will be back.

Did the Chefs tasting Menu (the culinary trust fall) Absolutely delicious. Everything that came out could not have been better. The dishes were not only great but the flavors were so inspired. The service was also top notch. Incredible experience. Will definitely be back.

We’ve been here a handful of times and each time has been wonderful but this last time was more than we could’ve ever expected. We love this place for many reason but one big one is because they cater to our dietary restrictions and have such yummy, local and in season foods. Yesterday when we went for Sunday brunch, my toddler wanted to try the carrot pancakes. Our server double checked if they were dairy free (allergy) and unfortunately they were not. We moved forward with a different order and when our food came out, the Chef had surprised our son with a special sweet treat made just for him! He whipped up an off the menu item that fits his dietary restrictions and absolutely made our day. Not only was it to die for (seriously we will be dreaming about this sweet treat) but it made our son feel so special and loved. I can’t recommend this place and they’re wonderful Chef enough. (I couldn’t snap a pic before my kid started devouring it but here is a half eaten pic of the yummy treat he made our kiddo! Seriously SO GOOD)

I haven’t even left the restaurant yet as I’m writing this review. My stomach literally cannot intake anymore. Farm to Table—more like farm straight to my mouth. This dining experience was absolutely fantastic from start to finish. The way these dishes elevate texture, taste and presentation is a true testament to their mission in working with local farmers. Nestled in Traveler’s Rest, Topsoil is a hidden gem. Vibes are immaculate—dim lit (small lamps on each table), comfortable seating, great music and perfect noise level to have a conversation with your people but not hearing the people next to you. Our waitress Prentiss was amazing, she is very knowledgeable on the dishes, and gave great recommendations. We WILL be back here throughout each season as it’s a seasonal menu.

Fantastic establishment in TR. Our family had a wonderful experience with Topsoil being very accommodating to our two kids. Kyle our server was extremely knowledgeable and helpful in every way. Extra bonus was the live Bluegrass being played in the background. The food was fantastic and fresh. Love the farm to table aspect. We look forward to returning!

My review is based on eating brunch here on a Saturday. The staff immediately seemed so welcoming and cheerful. The menu was explained and my server was aware of my raw tomato allergy since I’d made a reservation with Resy. The space was nice but felt casual and comfortable. I decided to get the breakfast sandwich with a veggie patty. I do eat meat but for some reason, the veggie option just sounded really good. I liked that the English muffins are made in house along with as many of the components as possible and using local ingredients. The veggie patty was mildly spicy and had a very flavorful Indian spice profile. The breakfast potatoes were excellent as well. I did need to ask for my tea to be refilled. That was my only “complaint” about the experience. I will definitely be coming again for brunch sometime soon. It is on the pricey side but I thought the quality and the fresh local ingredients justified that price. They aren’t just reheating frozen and delivered items. They are actually preparing interesting menu items and supporting local farms as well. The portion size was also filling, you can see from my photo that they actually give a decent amount of potatoes. While the menu was small, I think it offered a nice variety of sweet and savory, lighter meals and more hearty options. I got a cinnamon roll to go and it was also excellent. I like when the server is familiar with the food on the menu and can give recommendation or answer questions. So based on my experience, I’d highly recommend Topsoil!
